What to do if you want to quit. - Northstar Martial Arts

What to do if you want to quit.

For the last 2 weeks I have been doing a course on line. it was a course on how to use the Face Book and Instagram program through their parent company “Meta.” I have now gone as far as I need to go. The time I spent on navigating my way through this mine field was insane.

I so badly wanted to give up. I just could not entertain the thought of quitting. “What’s the hurry” I would ask myself. I had to go back and re do the back end so many times, I thought it was just impossible. “How could anybody decipher this and then use it for marketing.” “You don’t need to perfect this.” I would tell myself. Slowly I began to see how it all fitted together .It stared to make sense.’ Wow’  I can do this. I needed to walk my own talk. Giving up would have been the easy way, but I just do not have the words that can be put together to why I quit. It’s just not a part of my DNA.

The key here is to never give up if the path still has a heart. While it beats with determination and drive. I realised that the one thing that sets my way of thinking apart is I celebrate every win. If you make ‘never quit your mantra,’ you will always be able to stack up these wins and use them for leverage to win every time you feel like quitting.

Some people never complete what they started. The moment it gets too hard they quit. Just bouncing from one thing to another. Martial Arts training constantly challenges you to not quit. With the help of your specialist NSJJ trainer, they will help you through the  tough  times aiming to keep you strong and motivated, from white to Black belt. Now that’s what I call a big win.

Here is what to do when you feel like quitting.

Get up and get out. You may be trying too hard and this is the problem with the perfectionist. When they fall short their whole world falls in on them. I should know I was a control freak perfectionist for many years I worked out many years ago to relax and use the mantra; ‘It will all be okay.’ By getting up, you will break the cycle and come back to what you were doing with a fresh outlook.

Does the path still have a heart. We tend to make these incredible goals that, in reality you don’t need so many details.  This can put  incredible pressure on yourself causing strain and stress making you unhappy. If the path no longer turns you on, then quit. If it does turn you on, then use that as leverage to get you over the barriers.

Lets take the example of getting a black belt. As you begin to train, you watch the higher belt sand are impressed by how good they look. You tell yourself that you could never do that, yet one of your main motivators was getting your black belt. The vice inside your head start off as a whisper, giving you reasons to quit once it all gets a little hard. As time goes on, that whisper becomes  shout, pleading with you to quit. But, you want no part of that. You renew your reasons for training in the first place and keep moving forward to your goal. This may happen several times and each time you renew your commitment to yourself, you get stronger.
