Ju Jitsu in the heart of balmain

Japanese Jujitsu Balmain

Japanese Ju jitsu Balmain is now being taught to children and adults of all ages right in the heart of the inner west. Japan is where Ju jitsu was born and can trace its lineage back 1000 years.  “Japanese Ju Jitsu Balmain” retains the traditional elements important when learning martial arts. The timeless traditions of Ju jitsu are taught in a dojo or training hall. You wear a simple white uniform called a “Gi” and bow as a sign of mutual respect. This Japanese Ju jitsu dojo has a calm Zen like stillness right amidst the hustle and bustle of the busy inner west. A hub of conscious learning, students are encouraged by more senior and experienced students to thrive in this noncompetitive environment.

Northstar JuJitsu is resolute in its principles of peace and non-violence. These concepts slowly become clear as the student moves through the various levels. Revealing the truth about oneself does not lie in violence and the need to be right. By learning about ourselves we gain confidence and insight to avoid violence in all forms.

Retaining the essence of traditional Ju Jitsu, the Northstar moves are uncluttered and simple to learn. The syllabus is well-structured and emphasises balance, awareness and simplicity of motion.

“Ju Jitsu in the heart of Balmain” can trace its lineage directly from 2 of the more famous traditional systems of Japanese Ju Jitsu. In fact, much of the history of many modern martial arts can trace their roots back to traditional Japanese Ju jitsu. Jigaro Kano the founder of modern day Judo studied and mastered Tenjin Shin yo Ryu Ju jitsu. Ueshiba the founder of Aikido studied and taught Daito Ryu Aiki Ju jitsu. Andrew Dickinson the founder of Northstar Ju jitsu was graded to black belt in both Tenjin Shin-yo Ryu Ju Jitsu and Daito Ryu Aiki Ju jitsu in Japan by the heads of both schools.
