By choosing to train online, you get an element of flexibility to be able to create your own martial arts experience that you do not get if you attend a physical studio. All the belt information is set and for many there is a grading if you want to progress to the next belt. You have flexibility in your program and can advance through the modules at times which totally suit you.
Though I am not with you in a class environment, I have put a considerable amount of effort to keep you focused during each class. There is no doubt that repetition is the key to learning these new skills, which is no different to attending a physical class. Some may think that it is not possible to learn martial arts online, but why not. Online learning is now a reality and you can learn just about anything online. In order to survive many people have had no choice but to dive in online.
You have me as your very own personal instructor/mentor. I am teaching more beginners now than I have for many years. I only teach workshops and seminars at the physical dojo now. If you want to study with me from the beginner level, I recommend that you book your place in the Mastery Academy. This way you have access to all of my writing including the latest blog posts and all of my books.
But be under no illusions, the academy is not an easier path than training in a physical dojo. It is not a short cut or watered down version. You need to be self-motivated and hungry to succeed. No one is going to do it for you. You will gain a different kind of confidence by achieving your targets. It is a very personal path. You will find a new sense of resilience, discipline and determination. You learn so much detail as your reviews and gradings are the equivalent of a one-on-one private lesson with myself.
You will often be challenged by asking yourself is this enough. But even if you were attending a physical dojo, you will be faced with challenges that will question your resolve. You may get really bored, but the syllabus allows for that. I want you to experience the feeling of boredom. That is why I have made the mastery academy experience a complete journey of body, mind and spirit. I do not offer this method at the physical dojo.
The are so many resources for you on the academy that will give you options and take you on a deeper dive into all the aspects of martial arts. Make the most of what is available to you and indulge your experience as much as possible. When I started martial arts there were no resources available to go deeper. If you wanted to learn more, you had to travel to the location where the founder of the system was teaching. This meant traveling to USA, Korea or Japan. Now it is all at your fingertips. Access to Mastery anywhere in the world is just a zoom call away.
