Are you tired of the constant negative self talk? Don’t you wish it would just stop. Do you find your self getting easily stressed out, impatient or angry and just wish that you could control your emotions better?
Welcome to meditation pure and simple.
For years now I have been studying meditation and the various techniques and options available. It is a shame that so many traditions, organizations and individuals package up meditation in dogma and secrets, leading you on to believe that if you pay the right amount of money you will be initiated into their school that will give you your own personal mantra and all the secrets of meditation will be revealed. Saving the most secret forms for the most advanced students, all the while loading up the mind with more information and things to think about and moving you, the student around in circles.
The only secret to meditation is to do it.
This course is short and precise. No secrets, cheap yet great value. I want you to be able to start your meditation immediately. I am not asking you to do the impossible but try and commit a short amount of time each day to read the material which will give you valuable insights into what to expect and do the meditation. There is no such thing as a good or bad meditation and by removing the expectation from the experience you allow the effects of meditation to happen spontaneously.
Establish a calm base.
The key to beginning to see the calm base line that meditation brings into your life is to actually meditate. This takes discipline and that is up to you. I am not enlightened or a self realised sage. But through consistent effort I find myself more and more in tune with nature able to respond to life and its variants from a calm stillness and sense of contentment
Meditation does not need to have all the bells and whistles attached to it. Just by finding a place that resonates with where you can sit every day and hopefully not be disturbed, you are on your way.Â
Reduce stress and anxiety.
There is no doubt that the ancient practice of meditation is a good method to reduce stress and anxiety. It is important that you gently start and do not take on more than you can handle. You see, what happens when you start to sit and simply watch the breath, you can be overwhelmed with thinking and unless you are prepared and nurtured through this, you may become frustrated and upset that nothing seems to be working.
I am not going to sugar coat this and tell you that stillness and bliss will be instantaneous results of your efforts. Though, by sticking with it and learning to make a sacred time in your life that is for you, allowing the thoughts to just appear then disappear without judgement, snippets of space will begin to appear in your life. The endless rush will be replaced with a more patient and forgiving take on life. So whilst it may appear in your daily sitting that you are just experiencing a never ending powerful stream of thoughts and you are wasting your time, the effects will be obvious over time. But you have to keep at it as even the least amount of effort goes towards lasting change.
Try my 10 second meditation.
IÂ use this very simple meditation to regain control, de stress and counter anxiety. You can do it anywhere, anytime, eyes open or closed. You can even include it in your longer meditations as a way to re-establish awareness.
Just stop what you are doing and bring your attention to the breath. Breathe in and count one, Breath out and count one, breath in and out and count 2, Breath out and relax in and count 3, in and count 4, in and count 5, give your full attention to the breath. Calm and at ease, just let go.
