The Education Edge E-Book
Would you like your child to be getting great results at school? Would you like your child to get into OC or selective high school?Do you want a private school education for your child, fully paid for?
There is no doubt that every parent wants the best for their child. As most parents soon find out, bringing up children is a hands on learning process that generally has no guide book. Every parent has their own particular nuances, needs and beliefs when it comes to their own children. In fact, every parent can probably write their own e-book on effectively raising children, from their own personal experience. What works for one family may not work for another.
I would like to share with you some of the ways that I have brought up my own son, preparing him for a powerful life. He is 13 now and speaks native Japanese, plays piano, drums and saxophone, is a champion swimmer, athlete and skier and is advanced in Martial Arts.
Tom is now at Trinity Grammar on a full scholarship. He was also offered scholarships at Newington College, short listed for Scots College and gained a place at Leichhardt Selective.
Though this is a great achievement, Tom is not a gifted or talented student. As parents, we slowly and consistently introduced small doable and enjoyable activities from a very young age. Each accomplishment, no matter how small in each activity was celebrated with passion. Even the failures were carefully discussed and explained as part of the learning process.
This slowly and surely instilled in Tom an unshakeable confidence tempered by a fine sense of right and wrong and service to others. It also gave him the perseverance to keep trying even when things seemed difficult and not giving up or losing faith even when the odds were stacked against him. There are hundreds of children trying for scholarships and only a handful get selected. Tom just went at it with a diligence and an unassuming confidence that he will be okay.
The most important thing that I would like you to understand is; we did not push Tom to do anything that he did not want to do. As parents we felt that it was far more important for him to still relish and enjoy his childhood years and develop in every area of his life; mind, body and spirit.
So I would like to share with you my thoughts and philosophies on:
